Aaj is the first Urdu literature journal to be published in the web in Urdu text format.
Published quarterly from Karachi, aaj presents each time a selection of contemporary writings from many languages of the world, translated in Urdu, as well as some ground-breaking Urdu writings of today. At the end of each regular issue a special section - a small anthology in itself - is devoted to a particular writer or subject.

The special issues of aaj published so far have presented selections of Arabic, Persian and Hindi short stories, selected fiction of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, writings from different parts of the world covering the tragedy of Bosnia, and, recently, the "Story of Karachi" in two volumes.
